Wrong move on Reapportionment

Every 10 years, Vermont's legislature goes through an often torturous process to reapportion itself to reflect changing population trends. It's never easy, because even in a small and relatively quiet state like Vermont, divvying up districts where the population has risen or fallen a few notches becomes freighted with consequences for those who live there.

Sharp-eyed readers of Time Magazine's Jan. 9 issue of this year may have been surprised to discover an interesting tidbit of information contained on Page 14. There, in different shades of green, were revealed the varying degrees of income inequality across the country.

I feel further clarification may be needed concerning Development Review Board Chairman Tim Waker's after-the-meeting commentary quoted in the Manchester Journal about the proposed 100 room hotel - i.e. "Waker continued to say the proposed project is an APPROVED (caps added) use."
